James was the original CTO of Monad Labs and is now CEO of Category Labs, bringing his background as an HFT engineer at Jump Trading to build a high performance parallel EVM chain from scratch. Apart from being a technical leader, he is also an active voice in the community, regularly engaging on CT, answering questions, and pushing back against baseless fud around Monad or crypto in general. Not many people know this, but earlier in his career at Jump, he witnessed the firm’s role in supporting TerraUSD during its 2021 depeg and later became a whistleblower in the TerraUSD collapse, providing key testimony that exposed what happened behind the scenes.
