Espresso ☕️

Espresso It's original, everyone loves it, the art is so artistic. I wrote content for Espresso and Kaito campaigns early on.

Its a bit hard to describe what Espresso really does for non technical people but I heard Justin Drake talk about them in a L2 operability call about that they are working on based sequencing for ETH L2s and he spoke very positively about them. Think its about providing rapid transaction finality that enables secure cross-chain verifications between rollups.

I really like this project team is solid and they've already raised $57.9M in funding.They recently launched an NFT and it performed really well too.

Espresso is a promising infrastructure project in the Web3 world, directly addressing the most pressing issues of Ethereum today: fragmentation, cross-chain latency, and risks from centralized sequencers. Instead of becoming a new L2 or a traditional bridge, Espresso chooses to be a neutral finality layer, using the HotShot BFT consensus mechanism to confirm blocks quickly, securely, and decentralized. A special feature of Espresso is its seamless integration with any rollup stack (OP Stack, zkStack, Arbitrum Orbit...) and support for dApps to build cross-chain applications without worrying about data risks or disjointed UX. The project is also developing a collection of Composables NFTs to honor the builders and early supporters who contribute to building this vision. In short, if you believe in a Web3 future where chains can communicate, coordinate, and build powerful dApps as if they were living on the same chain, Espresso is the first building block of that vision.

Espresso is shaping up to be one of the most promising interoperability solutions in the Ethereum ecosystem. Built by Espresso Systems, this protocol tackles one of the most complex problems in rollup scaling: secure, fast, and decentralized cross-chain communication. With its innovative HotShot consensus, Espresso delivers fast finality while remaining Byzantine Fault Tolerant—an essential feature for scaling to thousands of nodes without sacrificing security. Paired with the Tiramisu Data Availability (DA) layer, it ensures reliable, efficient access to on-chain data for rollups, making it a practical base layer for developers and chains alike. But what truly sets Espresso apart is its Sequencer Marketplace—a novel mechanism that allows rollups to sell sequencing rights, promoting decentralization and enabling near-instant atomic interoperability between chains. This brings us closer to the dream of seamless cross-rollup dApps and synchronous composability. Espresso’s collaboration with Polygon Labs and integration with the AggLayer reinforces its technical credibility and ecosystem relevance. It’s not just a research project—it’s a working piece of infrastructure helping Ethereum scale sustainably and credibly. If Ethereum rollups are the future, Espresso is building the high-speed highway that connects them all.

Espresso is a project that aims to bring together various ecosystems into a more efficient workflow. Their focus is on interoperability, a crucial aspect amid the growing fragmentation of the blockchain landscape. By introducing the concept of a connectivity layer on top of Ethereum, they offer a refreshing approach. The approach taken feels well developed. Its visual identity is strong, and its development direction is clear. This project is not merely infrastructure but a foundation that can strengthen the Ethereum ecosystem as a whole. Such initiatives are desperately needed in the current phase of the industry.

I like espresso in web3 and real life. I don't want to talk about its innovation, I participated in many of the missions and bounties on the Discord for this project and it feels really good to be involved with this project.

I am not very immersed in the Espresso technology. I know that it is not L2, but an auxiliary L2 that makes the entire ecosystem of unified transactions faster, safer, and better interconnected. The project has a good investment of $60 million, including tier 1 funds. There was a campaign to get WL on the project's NFT, where I participated but did not win WL. My opinion on the project is ambiguous. I do not yet understand its usefulness for the Ethereum ecosystem, when there are already fast and inexpensive L2s. Time will tell how Espresso will really integrate into the Ethereum ecosystem.

I’ve followed Espresso for a while and joined some of their early discussions. I liked their vision for fast finality, composability, and Ethereum compatibility, though I skipped the Kaito sale due to vesting.
